optical filters

A long pass (LP) filter is an optical interference or colored glass filter that attenuates shorter wavelengths and transmits longer wavelengths. It is characterized by a sharp slope at the cut-on wavelength at 50 percent peak transmission. In fluorescence microscopy, these filters are used in dichroic mirrors and barrier filters. The term ‘low pass’ for LP filters is now rare.
